Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The special issue, "The Latest Research Progress on Schizophrenia: Pathogenesis, Detection, and Interventions," aims to include manuscripts that present cutting-edge advancements in understanding schizophrenia. The focus is on elucidating the multifactorial nature of schizophrenia, with particular emphasis on its pathogenesis, by examining the interplay of genetic, neurodevelopmental, and environmental factors contributing to its onset.

Manuscripts should focus on one of the following three areas of interest:

  1. Advances in the pathogenesis of the disease, including genetic and neurodevelopmental factors, as well as clinical and cognitive symptoms. Sex-specific and gender-related aspects are also included.
  2. Strategies to improve the detection of psychosis, including enhanced assessment and early diagnostic tools to increase accuracy and predictability. Manuscripts integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning in detection methods are also welcomed.
  3. Intervention and treatment strategies, including pharmacological innovations targeting specific neural pathways and psychotherapeutic approaches addressing cognitive and functional impairments. The issue will also consider interventions aimed at assessing the impact of lifestyle factors and the potential of novel, non-invasive treatments.

Overall, this special issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest scientific efforts to unravel the complexities of schizophrenia, with the goal of enhancing early diagnosis, improving treatment outcomes, and ultimately improving the quality of life for individuals affected by this disorder.
