Abstract

In the last decade, it has been a lot of psychosocial, demographic, technology, treatments, etc. factors that changed the managed care of patients in the psychiatric emergency services. At the present moment psychiatric emergencies are attended at the general hospitals in a separate areas with specialized staff. There is a trend of increased need for children and adolescent’s, geriatrics’, immigrant’s and dual pathology’s patients. Subjects like computerized records, quality of care evaluations, confidentiality, new treatment alternatives, specific clinical phenotypes and genotypes studies, etc. would be some of the new advances in next future of psychiatric emergencies services.
