Abstract

Fibromyalgia is a chronic painful syndrome of unknown cause. Although there is no cure, symptoms can be controlled to a moderate degree with various treatments. Reliably effective pharmacologic treatments options are limited. A comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach incorporating both pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic interventions is often necessary to achieve clinically significant improvement.
